Understand our sponsorship ethic
Many NGOs put names to the children they protect: photo, first name, translated letters, an individual file sent to sponsors. We made a different choice. The children cared for at the shelter, the kindergarten, the partner schools and the training centre are minors and vulnerable. Many arrive after severe trauma. Exposing them in humanitarian marketing would violate their right to privacy, to being forgotten, to rebuilding their lives away from outside eyes.
Our university students, by contrast, are at least eighteen years old. They themselves choose to appear by name in an individual sponsorship. For them, sponsorship is a relationship that is built, chosen, and governed by our Charter. It’s the only named format we offer.

All involve a monthly donation that can be adjusted or stopped at any time. All come with a quarterly newsletter and a welcome pack. All are tax-deductible in Switzerland and France.

What every sponsorship includes, whichever one you choose
The physical welcome pack
Within ten days of your commitment, an envelope arrives at your home. A card signed by Patrik and Theavy, a photo of the sponsored programme, a detailed sheet of the actions funded, and a small symbolic item made by learners at the centre.
The quarterly newsletter
Four times a year, concrete news from the programme, photos, testimonials anonymised or named for student sponsorship, field reports, and an account of how funds were used.
The tax deduction
Switzerland and France each have their own system. A tax certificate is sent in January or February. A Swiss public-benefit association. A French general-interest association.
Total freedom
Increase, reduce, pause, or stop, at any time, by email or phone, without justification. Sponsorship is a commitment of the heart, not a contractual trap.
The Sponsorship Charter, our written commitment
This ethic isn’t a mere intention. It’s a written commitment we sign with every sponsor. The Charter sets out, over four pages, what we forbid ourselves from doing, what we guarantee, and what we expect in return. It can be read before any commitment is made. It protects the child. It protects the student. It protects the sponsor by clearly setting out what they can expect.

Frequently asked questions before committing
How long do I need to commit for?
There’s no minimum duration. Sponsorship can be stopped at any time, with a simple email. We honestly ask you to consider a horizon of at least twelve months: the programmes’ budget planning relies on the stability of commitments.
Can I change or stop my sponsorship?
Yes, without justification or notice. A simple email to our team. No complicated procedure.
Why isn’t children’s sponsorship named?
Because they are minors and vulnerable, and their privacy takes precedence over the emotional levers of humanitarian marketing. Our full ethic is explained here.
Can I meet my sponsored student?
Yes, if both parties wish to, in a setting chosen by the student and overseen by the AVEC Sentinelles. It isn’t compulsory, it’s a mutual choice.
How does the tax deduction work?
In Switzerland, a deduction on direct federal tax and cantonal taxes (varies by canton). In France, a tax reduction of 66% of the amount donated, up to a limit of 20% of taxable income. A certificate is sent in January or February of the following year.
What happens if I can no longer pay?
You write to us. We stop. No justification, no unpleasant follow-up. It’s as simple as that.
Can I give a sponsorship as a gift?
Yes. You choose the format and the duration (3, 6 or 12 months). We send the person of your choice a personalised card with their sponsor login details. Contact us for the exact details.
