Carry AVEC’s cause wherever you live
Voix d’AVEC are ambassadors in Switzerland, in their town, their workplace, their parish or their circle of friends. They introduce Battambang to those who had never heard of it. And what they do works.
The observation
Why AVEC needs local Voix
Patrik Roux and Theavy Bun live in Battambang. AVEC’s leadership is on the ground, and that is what gives it its operational strength. But this way of working has a side effect: AVEC’s visibility in Switzerland relies almost entirely on word of mouth and on the enthusiasts who get involved locally to make it known.
Voix d’AVEC are the answer to this imbalance. They are volunteers who take the time to talk about the association to their networks, organise awareness-raising events, distribute craft products from the training centre, welcome new donors, and give talks in schools or companies.
Without them, AVEC would remain a discreet association that does a great deal and is known by few. With them, the Swiss support network grows every year. The AVEC team
The roles
Five ways to become a Voix d’AVEC
It is up to you to choose the format that suits your time, your networks and your pace. Several can be combined.
Talk and testimony
Once or twice a year, present AVEC to your parish, your Rotary club, your Lions club, your neighbourhood association or your company. Thirty to sixty minutes, materials provided by AVEC, videos available. Face-to-face contact is worth ten online campaigns.
Fundraising event
A charity evening, a sale of craft products from the training centre, a solidarity meal, an AVEC car-boot sale. You run the local logistics, AVEC provides the communication materials and operational expertise if you need it.
Welcoming new sponsors
When someone close to you is thinking about becoming a sponsor, you tell them about your own experience, answer their practical questions, and support them through sign-up. A Voix is more convincing than a website.
Distributing craft products
Graduates of the sewing centre make pouches, scarves and decorative items. Voix distribute them in Switzerland in exchange for a voluntary donation. All proceeds go back to the centre in full. It is concrete, it is tangible.
School and media outreach
A presentation in a classroom, a college, on local radio, or in a community newspaper. Voix who are comfortable with the media become the face of AVEC in their region. Coaching and preparation provided if needed.
The support package
What AVEC provides you with
Becoming a Voix does not mean managing on your own. AVEC supports you with a comprehensive package, built on twenty years of volunteering experience.
- An initial training session of a few hours, by video call from Battambang with Patrik, or at the annual Voix weekend in Switzerland.
- A complete Voix kit: an up-to-date PowerPoint presentation, videos, printable brochures, sample letters, stand materials, and permission to use the logo.
- A dedicated contact in Switzerland, who answers your questions, puts you in touch with other Voix in your canton, and keeps you updated on news from the field.
- Personal visibility on the AVEC website and newsletter, if you wish. Many prefer to stay behind the scenes, and that is respected.
- Regular feedback on the impact of your actions: new sponsors gained through your talk, funds raised through your event.
Real diversity
Who are the Voix today?
Active retirees who find a new cause to champion. Young professionals who want to give meaning to their schedules. Teachers who raise awareness among their pupils. Doctors who have visited Battambang and want to extend their commitment. Nuns and religious brothers committed to children’s welfare. Company employees setting up an internal CSR initiative. Parents of sponsored children who get involved beyond sponsorship.
No prior humanitarian experience is needed. No need to be a communications expert. No need to have a large network. All of this is learned or built on the ground through commitment. What they have in common: time, enthusiasm, and an affinity with the mission
